- Reach out physically.
A hand on the arm. A shoulder touch. Sometimes reconnection is nonverbal.
- Say something unexpected.
A joke. A callback to a shared memory. Break the pattern.
- Acknowledge their point.
"You're right about that." Even mid-fight. Especially mid-fight.
- Lower your voice.
Calm is contagious. So is chaos. Choose which to spread.
- Ask for a pause.
"I need 20 minutes to calm down." Then come back. That's the key.
Repair isn't surrender. It's maturity. And it saves relationships.
